Wildfang - Where cats Run Wild « Result #1 on Nov 9, 2009, 4:18pm »
x.Welcome to Wildfang, a land steeped in history. It is a place where cats of all different blood roam together as one. Species is nothing more than a name, a simple word that means nothing in such a land. After all, this place has a long history of violence. Strength, courage, wits and determination mean far more than appearances ever will. One cat tried to take over; Switchblade, the evil panther who attempted to control the prides and destroy anyone who stood in his way, but whose own desire for power destroyed him.
x.It is five years since the ‘Great Battle’ that marked the death of Switchblade. The terror of that tragic night is remembered, but is preferred to be thought of as just a bad nightmare from many moons ago. Many of the faithful warriors of the war have passed on, whilst others attempt to live their lives as best they can, forever scarred from that dreadful night.
x. A new generation of cats have been born in to a peaceful world, knowing nothing of the terrors of war other than what they have been told. But all of that will soon change, and a message from the stars will bring forward a new prophecy that will challenge these felines and push them to the limit. Born and breed in a peaceful world, how will they rise to the challenges brought to them from the heavens?

Torou watch Cerine as she halted her pacing and gazed at Bana with intelligent eyes. "Don't you worry about me, William Bana, I have someone watching over me just as I'm watching over you and the others still here. Just do me a favor and be a little more careful with your temper. Panther's don't usually attack humans unprovoked, they run, if that's a hint on how to escape those of my kind that are not worthy of life. And I thank you for your wish, but believe me in this," Torou spoke smoothly and gently, halting now to gain all of Bana's attention, "You have made me profoundly happy by being able to escape. Maybe one day this building will only be an ancient ruins that both of our races scoff at."
The human woman lay a gentle hand on Bana's head and scratched behind his ear before stepping back. "Go on, I'll be fine."
Cerine watched as the male panther, Bana- as he had introduced himself, seemed torn between the freedom and Torou's niceities. She spoke in a soothing and rare voice to Bana and Bana only, "Don't you worry over her, she's a tough one, and very few people mess with her anyways because she's too damn nice for her own good. She'll be just fine." Suddenly her voice became emotionless again as she said "Be of good will, little human, Bana shall be safe with me. I've learned from you and a couple other humans of the traps that are placed. We will avoid them." And she spoke that to both Bana and Torou.

&& Skeleton stopped dead. She scrambled in the sand, reaching for the radio. She missed, falling to her knees before managing to shut it off. The radio sang for another second, and finally went mute. Skeleton straightened her hair and brushed the sand off her pants, looking for the source of the noise. It was easy to find. "Hey, otters don't live at the- Oh! You're a Nephilim!" She smiled, suddenly disappearing in a puff of fur. In her place sat a black kitten, small and innocent-looking. She showed her tiny little teeth in a tiny little grin. She looked up, searching for seagulls ore seahawks. They could make an easy meal out of her if she didn't see them coming. She looked to the otter, big brown eyes glittering with excitement. She hadn't seen any Nephilim lately, and this was quite a treat.

Saltwater was hardly the natural habitat for a river otter, but sometimes the added buoyancy was fun! Even if it took ages to clean the salt out of her fur. Bevin was engaged in just that pursuit. Sure, she could have just shifted back, but then shed be all salty in human form, too. Much better to clean off the salt when you had fur.
As she twisted and turned pretzel-like on top a large piece of bleached drift wood (to keep the sand out of her fur), one rounded ear flicked back at a strange sound. Well, not strange, but certainly unusual. Maybe it was common to hear music at the beach in other parts of the world, but here, well, it was asking for trouble! Bevin straightened from her grooming, and tilted her head in the direction the sound was coming from. The beach curved a little, so she couldn't see the music-maker. She chuffed in annoyance, and bounded off her log, still half wet. And now entirely sandy.
She chuffed again, and bounded down the beach to see who it was. Careful, though- she checked herself. It could be humans having a party or something. Not that otters were unusual, not like giant black wolves or whatever, but they were odd enough by the ocean to be noteworthy, and Bevin wanted to be anything but noteworthy to the humans!
She peered around a rock, her round eyes narrowing and she flicked her ears back to be extra-stealthy. A young girl was dancing, alone, of the beach. Hmm. With one of the scientist's radios. Hmm. Which would, generally, prevent Bevin from talking to her. But then... she was just a girl.
Bevin popped up on top of the rock, and chirped a polite otter hello.

She had no idea what this meant to him. He had a feeling that she had an idea, but she would never know the extent of his happiness. He was going to be free. This human was leading him to the one thing that he desired over everything else in the world. As she waited for the guards to leave, Bana remained where he was, watching her with a curious interest. He was lying down on the floor of his cell, and he couldn't help but think that this was the last time he would feel the harsh cement beneath his tender paws. He wouldn't be trapped in these bars, and he wouldn't have to deal with the endless tests and the annoyances that the humans placed upon his shoulders. As the guards finally disappeared and were far away, he saw her take a step forward. Knowing that there was a camera watching his every move, he didn't rush forwards, as much as he wanted to. He couldn't let on that he was excited to see her. Controlling himself, which was highly difficult, his imploring ocean blue eyes stared up at Torou with a happiness that he hadn't shown in the months he had been imprisoned here.
Bana was up in an instant though when she held her hand out to him. And he walked alongside her like a well trained pet that knew exactly how to behave in this day and age, and in this place. He stayed calm and cool, and then turned his dial to look up at her as she spoke to him. Listening quietly, his heart leapt at the words. Not only was she giving him freedom, but she was giving him someone to share it with. A friend. Something that he had never had before, but something he was more than willing to try. He didn't know how he would be with it, but the lonliness he had experienced in this place was enough to make him want nothing more than at least one friend in this world. He nodded quietly, and spoke up once more. "I never thought a human could be good before I met you Torou. Thank you for this. I hope you get everything you wish for in this life. You deserve it." He said honestly, hoping she knew he meant his words. As they reached the door, he was surprised to see that it was located right by the freedom door. That was strange. He reached to touch Torou's hand with his snout, and then moved forward as she stepped aside. As she spoke with the other nephilim, Bana remained silent. He was nervous to say the least, for he didn't know who to trust outside or inside. He looked to Torou, and then to the female black panther as she spoke up. He had never seen another black panther before. "Hello..My name's Bana..." He was warily and hesitantly, watching her for some kind of reaction. He looked back at Torou once more, worrying over the human's fate. Would she get in serious trouble for this? He didn't want her to, since she had done him the greatest favor of all. She had given him his freedom. Even now, he felt as if he was being rejuvenated. There was real air here, and real grass...real everything. As the slight breeze played in his fur, he relished in it, never wanting to go back inside that building again. Why did Torou have to go back in as well?

"Ho-kee! Hokee-oi!"
Her harsh wail echoed back to her from the dark, rugged rocks below. The world swooped up to one side as she tilted her great wings and banked around, feeling the thermal shoving her upwards.
Bevin loved to fly, particularly in her eagle form. A robin was nice to flit about with, but nothing- nothing- beat the sheer power and feeling invincibility her eagle provided.
In her eagle form, Bevin weighed about 30 pounds, and stood over 3 feet tall. She couldn't glide very well, but her powerful flight muscles shoved her through the air at dizzying speeds. And a good thermal helped, and the best thermals were found at the Obsidian Crags.
Folding back her wings, Bevin stalled, spreading her long tail wide to flip her head down. She hung there for a moment, until gravity reached up and caught her in it's inescapable grasp and yanked her towards the earth. A protective nictating membrane covered her sharp eyes as air whistled through her feathers, and the earth leaped up to meet her. Faster and faster she fell, until she snapped open her wings at the last second, muscled straining with effort as she arched to turn her falling speed into horizontal motion.
She shot over the dark rocks, laughing in her own head as the sharp points flashed by, almost blurring even to her excellent eyes.
Finally she slowed, and started to climb up to do it again.
Before she could get much height, two little dark streaks shot out from the crags and straight into her face. Bevin flinched, back-winging hastily to get away. The little brown streaks chirped angrily, and zipped around her, their little wings whacking her in the head.
Startled by the swallow's sudden appearance, Bevin turned sharply on one wing and tried to get away. The swallows, probably having a nest near by, shrieked in anger and dove at her head. They were to small and agile to grab with her beak, even if she wanted to, so Bevin ducked her head against their onslaught and was slowly forced lower and lower. In a few moments, she ended up grasping a stone peak in her huge talons, head hidden between her tawny wings, as the little birds sharp beaks pecked at her feathered back. They were unlikely to truly harm her; her feathers were thick and she was much, much, much larger then they were, but every time she raised her head they attacked it, and she couldn't fly if she couldn't see!

&& Skeleton pumped her fists in the air. Her lips formed words, strong and amazingly skilled, with the lyrics. She twirled on her toes, spraying sand out at the water. A portable, battery-powered radio - which she had stolen from some scientists on lunch break - lay snug in the sand, pumping out the song 'Starstrukk' by 3OH!3, a band of which Skelly had taken an immediate liking to. She swayed, down so that her arms were reaching for the sky, but her bum was almost touching he ground. With another flick of her head, she reversed the operation, sashaying back up. She wore [a very colorful outfit], and her hair was curled, a little frizzy from the seawater and the movement.
She danced, instead of with the words, with the beat. She shook her hips with the beat, sliding her feet and occasionally sashaying down and then up again. She loved dancing and singing, like she did both now, and she was very talented at it. Of course, she still had to practice, but it came easy to her.

Torou had expected this. She could see Bana brimming with, but suppressing, excitement. He stood and waited for her to unlock the door, and she waited until the guards were long gone. Torou unlocked the cell door and opened it wide before turning around. She heard his words in her head and replied with voice. "I can guess, if I don't already know. Bana, I want you to meet a friend of mine. I know her because of another friend, but the one you will be meeting is Cerine. She's waiting outside. I don't want you to be lonely once you leave, though I don't know if you will be lonely. I hope that you two will keep each other in good health and far from this place."
Torou finally reached the door to the outside, a plain, normal door, right next to the door with the fake outside in it. She pushed it open and sunlight streamed in, bright in the noonday sky. The sky was blue and the trees were rich green, not to mention how close the ocean was. Only twenty yards away, a black panther paced impatiently, seemingly irritated. "I did this for you Torou, but I don't mind making a friend." She said to Torou only. Broadening her mind speech to the other black panther, she spoke again, "Hello, I'm Cerine, what's your name?" Her voice was cool and smooth, not too friendly, and a little full of warning for anyone who wanted to get too close in friendship. Cerine's trust was not easily won either, maybe as easy as Bana's, but sometimes it differed.
