Suffer Little Birds To Sing [open!]

"Ho-kee! Hokee-oi!"

Her harsh wail echoed back to her from the dark, rugged rocks below. The world swooped up to one side as she tilted her great wings and banked around, feeling the thermal shoving her upwards.

Bevin loved to fly, particularly in her eagle form. A robin was nice to flit about with, but nothing- nothing- beat the sheer power and feeling invincibility her eagle provided.

In her eagle form, Bevin weighed about 30 pounds, and stood over 3 feet tall. She couldn't glide very well, but her powerful flight muscles shoved her through the air at dizzying speeds. And a good thermal helped, and the best thermals were found at the Obsidian Crags.

Folding back her wings, Bevin stalled, spreading her long tail wide to flip her head down. She hung there for a moment, until gravity reached up and caught her in it's inescapable grasp and yanked her towards the earth. A protective nictating membrane covered her sharp eyes as air whistled through her feathers, and the earth leaped up to meet her. Faster and faster she fell, until she snapped open her wings at the last second, muscled straining with effort as she arched to turn her falling speed into horizontal motion.

She shot over the dark rocks, laughing in her own head as the sharp points flashed by, almost blurring even to her excellent eyes.

Finally she slowed, and started to climb up to do it again.

Before she could get much height, two little dark streaks shot out from the crags and straight into her face. Bevin flinched, back-winging hastily to get away. The little brown streaks chirped angrily, and zipped around her, their little wings whacking her in the head.

Startled by the swallow's sudden appearance, Bevin turned sharply on one wing and tried to get away. The swallows, probably having a nest near by, shrieked in anger and dove at her head. They were to small and agile to grab with her beak, even if she wanted to, so Bevin ducked her head against their onslaught and was slowly forced lower and lower. In a few moments, she ended up grasping a stone peak in her huge talons, head hidden between her tawny wings, as the little birds sharp beaks pecked at her feathered back. They were unlikely to truly harm her; her feathers were thick and she was much, much, much larger then they were, but every time she raised her head they attacked it, and she couldn't fly if she couldn't see!
